自从2013年7月15日陆路交通局推出了“高保安特征驾驶执照”（LMBT）后，马来西亚的驾照就开始转为马来语和英语的双语模式，取代了旧有的单一驾照。这项政策造福了想要在国外自驾游的旅友或打工一族。如今，若想要在国外自驾游或需要到驾驶执照的任何事情都无须再重考当地的执照，只需前往马来西亚交通部JPJ申请国际驾照International Driving Licence即可。
据1949年及1968年日内瓦联合国交通与公路会议，马来西亚的驾照受到至少150个国家承认，是名副其实的国际驾照。
国际驾照需要重考吗？

国际驾照是不需要重考驾驶考试，也不需要任何人的担保和保证，只要准备以下完整的文件就可以申请成功了。
需准备的文件：
1. 表格
* 可在当局索取或提前从网上下载。
2. 驾驶执照复印本
3. 身份证和复印本
4. 2张Passport Size的照片
5. 费用 RM150
* 拥有一年的有效期。
