根据ETtoday新聞雲报道，台湾新冠肺炎已有77例确诊。然而近期不少台湾人赴国外旅行返台后确诊，导致境外移入病例暴增。对此，中央流行疫情指挥中心指挥官陈时中今（18）日宣布，从3月19日起，外籍人士一律 禁止入境台湾 ，而台湾人入境也须居家隔离14天。
台湾外交部部长吴钊燮台湾外交部部长吴钊燮表示，所有要入境台湾的外籍人士，除了持居留证、外交公务证明、商务履约证明或其他经许可证之外，其他一律限制入境！实施时间从大马时间19日凌晨0时开始实行。如今多数都是境外移入，因此会考虑境外管制再加严，未来无论台湾人或外国人，入境后就居家检疫14天。外国人虽然暂缓入境，但必要的商业与外交行为仍可放行，不过只要入台，一律居家隔离14天。
目前已经找到555位有相关旅游史的民众，其中已有一百多位已经採检，其余继续进行中，指挥中心也呼吁在3月3日至14日期间，有相关旅游史的民众请拨打1999主动通报。
